The enchanted, medieval town of Totnes has built a reputation as having a high concentration of healers, artists and yoga instructors. The hamlet's alternative community is what draws people here to rediscover themselves and live self sustainably. The main shopping street that gently winds up the hill from the river Dart is lined with innumerable independent shops offering, second-hand books, handmade musical instruments, organic food and crystals. Totnes certainly has 'energy', it's a playful sense of mystery and nostalgia for an idealised past. It's the place I call home.
Sixth in the 'Selling the Dream' series, my journey of exploring the economic crafting of travel marketing art takes a slight turn with inspiration drawn from much older styles, the Pre -Raphaelites and the distinguished Alphonse Mucha of the Art Nouveau movement.
