Nin's Bin

Size

After a couple of months in South East Asia I lived in the ski resort town, Queenstown for a year. On the drive down I spotted 'Nin's Bin' just after sunrise approaching Kaikoura - little did I know it was the first piece of the 'Our Turf' collection.
Kaikoura translates to Eat Crayfish in Maori so it's of little wonder to find this beached caravan has been selling the crustacean here since the 70s. Nin's Bin is one of the few surviving quintessential kiwi landmarks that tells a story about life is a bygone time. These fast vanishing icons are endangered bits of culture as massive 24hr supermarkets with petrol stations attached push out our community enthusiast's. I attempt to share my delight in the ordinary things of New Zealand that are seen but not examined by most of us. My themes are quite romantic and contemplate the passing of time, blending together a mixture of eclectic vintage sensibilities with modern atmospherics.

Each Limited Edition Giclee print is hand signed and numbered by me the artist.
