Rangitoto

The volcanic Island lying just outside the entrance of the Auckland Harbour is pondered over by North Shorean Sunrise beach Joggers and half of the city from their kitchen windows. It's the youngest of the city's 48 volcanoes erupting within memory of the local Maori Tribes naming it 'Bloody Sky'- Rangitoto, after the Arawa Tribe lost a battle with the Tainui Tribe. The island was home to the Ngai Tai Tribe before it was snapped up by the Crown in 1854 for a mere £15 and turned into a Basalt quarry to build the colonials houses on the mainland. The early Euro's were doing a little too much celebrating and had use the island to dry out the drunken sailors before they set off out to sea, funnily enough, today it's a popular boaties refuge with the only public access to the Island through a heavily monopolised ferry company.

Canvas Prints are made with 10oz, 100% cotton duck, acid free primed

Both Canvas and Paper print as made using lightfast inks to keep your artwork looking as vibrant as the day you first set eyes on it for 100+ years. Remember paper prints that are framed will see it's lifetime double that of one left in it's tube under your bed.
Canvas prints are then varnished with a UV protectant. For New Zealand buyers stretched over a 40mm deep wooden frame and tubed for all other countries. For those outside NZ - most reputable framers should be able to make a custom wood frame, also stretching guide lines are printed on the canvas edges.
